Step Into a Story: New StoryWalks® in Morgan County
The Morgan County Library is bringing literacy to the great outdoors! In partnership with FERST Readers of Morgan County, we are proud to debut two StoryWalks®. One at the Fifth Street Community Garden (664 Fifth Street, Madison, GA, United States, 30650) and another at Hard Labor Creek State Park (5 Hard Labor Creek Road, Rutledge, GA, United States, 30663).
What is a StoryWalk®?
It’s a book and a stroll rolled into one. Pages from a children’s picture book are installed at stations along a walking path. As families move from one station to the next, they enjoy a complete story while staying active.
Why We Love It:
Active Learning: Combines physical movement with reading comprehension.
Skill Building: Encourages children to talk, play, and make predictions about the story.
Screen-Free Time: Provides a healthy, outdoor bonding experience for caregivers and children.
Community Access: Brings library resources directly into our local parks and gardens.
This initiative reflects our commitment to meeting families where they are—out in the community! We plan to rotate featured titles and locations throughout the year, so keep an eye out for new stories appearing on a trail near you.
