AZRLS Digital Archives

Discover the history of our community through the Azalea Regional Library System Digital Archive. We are currently in the process of digitizing our entire microfilm collection to provide free, searchable access to historic local newspapers and documents.

Whether you are a genealogist, a student, or a local history enthusiast, you can explore hundreds of thousands of pages from titles such as the Walton Tribune, Eatonton Messenger, Madisonian, Sparta Ishmaelite, and many more dating back to the early 1800s.

Business Source Complete

BSC is a premier scholarly business database that provides a comprehensive collection of bibliographic and full-text content. It is a vital resource for students and faculty, covering essential business disciplines such as marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance, and economics. Consumer Health Complete

CHC is a one-stop shop for videos, reports, medical images, and diagrams covering all areas of health and wellness. Sign in through your PINES account and select GALILEO in the menu, then search Consumer Health Complete. Consumer Health Complete contains dozens of articles on a variety of teen health topics from smoking and sexting to dealing with anger and coping with divorce. “TeenTalk” articles are aimed at teens, while “How to Talk to Teens” articles provide tips to parents on starting difficult but important conversations.

Achieve your financial goals with FinancialFit. Find approachable, unbiased personal finance lessons to guide life’s biggest financial decisions. Topics include buying a house, improving your credit score, paying for higher education, understanding taxes, and more. GALILEO

GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online) is a portal to thousands of premium resources that you can’t find through standard search engines. Funded by the State of Georgia, it provides every resident with free access to authoritative, subscription-only content. Participating institutions may access over 100 databases indexing thousands of periodicals and scholarly journals. Over 10,000 journal titles are provided in full-text. Other resources include encyclopedias, business directories, and government publications.

PINES cardholders can log into their account at gapines.org and select “GALILEO Virtual Library” at the top of the webpage.

    • What’s Inside: Search thousands of full-text magazines, scholarly journals, encyclopedias, and e-books.

    • Specialized Tools: Access popular databases like Ancestry Library Edition, Mango Languages, Consumer Reports, and LearningExpress Library for test prep and career tools.

    • How to Access: If you are inside an Azalea Library branch, you are logged in automatically. From home, simply log in using your PINES card number and password.

  • Consumer Reports has long been a trusted source for consumer information on electronics, appliances, cars, and other products and services. The online version, available in full-text to Georgia citizens and students, includes the same ranking and comparison data featured in the print version.

    To access Consumer Reports:

    1. Go to GALILEO and click the Magazines A-Z tab.

    2. Search for Consumer Reports

    3. Choose the Consumer Reports (Full Text) option in the magazine list in Find It @ GALILEO

    4. Choose EBSCOhost MasterFILE Elite from the database list

    5. Click on an issue to the right to access the magazine

    6. To search across multiple issues for a particular product, click “Search within this publication” [Note: Type the word “and” along with your topic in the search box (e.g., “and digital cameras”)]

    7. Click “Share” to set up an alert

  • 1. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC) Enjoy full, premium access to the AJC—including the digital edition, exclusive series, and podcasts.

    • Onsite Access: Simply connect to our Library Wi-Fi or use a public computer to browse the AJC at no cost.

    • From Home: Access indexed AJC articles from 1990 to the present via ProQuest Newsstream in GALILEO using your PINES card.

    2. National & International News (GALILEO) Use your PINES card to access major global headlines and transcripts from any location:

    • ProQuest US Newsstream: Current articles from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and more.

    • EBSCO Newspaper Source Plus: Full-text access to 375 regional newspapers and news transcripts from NPR, CNN, and FOX News.

    3. Georgia Historic Newspapers Dive into Georgia’s history with a searchable archive spanning from 1763 to 2024. This collection includes full-text articles and images from across the state.

  • Gale LegalForms helps patrons understand common legal procedures through access to authentic, professional legal documents for businesses and it is the only electronic reference to offer legal forms that are truly state-specific.

    The forms in Gale LegalForms are drafted by attorneys. Users can access forms for wills, divorce, real estate, and business, with many documents available in Word or PDF formats. Log in via the GALILEO portal using a local library card or institution credentials

  • Explore a comprehensive archive of over 60,000 state documents covering Georgia’s history, policy, and daily operations from 1994 to the present. Hosted by the Digital Library of Georgia, this database is an essential resource for researchers, students, and citizens.

    What you can find:

    • State Agency Records: Reports, budgets, and studies from departments like Natural Resources, Labor, and Agriculture.

Mango Languages

Mango Languages is a conversational learning platform that uses color-coded "building blocks" to teach grammar and sentence structure naturally. It focuses on over 70 world languages (plus fun ones like "Pirate") and includes cultural notes to ensure you're using phrases correctly in context. AZRLS offers free, full access to Mango for all cardholders. You can download the app and use it while you’re out biking or meal prepping—it even has a "hands-free" mode for learning on the go.

Radon Monitor Loan Program

In partnership with the UGA Extension and the Georgia Public Library Service, Azalea Regional Library System now offers electronic radon monitors for checkout. Radon is a colorless, odorless gas that can accumulate in any home—new or old—and poses significant health risks.

  • Use your library card to check out a monitor for two weeks.

  • Follow the included instructions and QR code guides to detect radon levels in your home.

  • Visit radon.uga.edu for safety resources, or attend one of our upcoming UGA-led educational workshops at your local branch.

  • This program is supported by the U.S. EPA State and Tribal Indoor Radon Grants Program.
