Landman. Season one; created by Taylor Sheridan & Christian Wallace. DVD, TV-MA

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it's reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.
Two writers, an optimist and a "human thundercloud," compete to write the biography of a reclusive heiress on a remote island. Margaret Ives, the enigmatic subject, offers them a one-month trial, revealing her story in fragments, making it a challenge to piece together. An NDA prevents them from collaborating, and a growing attraction between the rivals further complicates their task, turning the biography into a potential mystery, tragedy, or love story.
1956, Malibu, California. With her name on the Hollywood blacklist, starlet Melanie Cole has little choice in company. There is her next-door neighbor, Elwood, but the screenwriter's agoraphobia allows for just short chats through open windows. He's her sole confidante, though, as she and her housekeeper, Eva, rarely make conversation. Then one early morning Melanie and Eva spot Elwood's sister-in-law, June, digging in his rose garden. After that they don't see Elwood at all anymore. As they try to find out if something has happened to him, unexpected secrets are revealed among all three women, leading to an alliance. But one little spark could send it all up in smoke.

💡Resource Spotlight💡

Who: Any child who hasn’t started kindergarten is encouraged to participate. You can start at any time, just be sure to finish before your child enters kindergarten.

Why 1,000 books before kindergarten?

Sharing books and stories is important for a child’s brain development.

  • Children who are read to at an early age have larger vocabularies when they enter school.
  • The most important predictor of school success is being read to at home during early childhood.
  • Reading aloud to infants and children encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • A toddler’s brain creates up to two million new connections every second.
  • A child’s brain develops most rapidly before the age of three.
  • The ability to learn language skills is greatest before the age of six.

Can I count the same book more than once? Yes! You may count the same title as many times as your child wants to read it, but we also encourage you to read a wide array of books to increase your child’s exposure to different vocabulary and concepts.

When is the deadline to finish reading 1,000 books? Your child must have read their 1,000 books before they begin kindergarten. You have plenty of time to finish!

  • 1 book per day for 3 years = 1,095 Books
  • 10 books per week for 2 years = 1,040 Books
  • 3 books per day for 1 year = 1,095 Books
