Life can be tricky, right? Gretchen Rubin gets it. In her book "Secrets of Adulthood," she shares short, punchy insights – like little nuggets of wisdom – to help us navigate it all. Think of those moments when you're stuck, facing a big change, or just scratching your head at someone's behavior. Rubin offers simple yet powerful truths that can click in your mind and offer a fresh perspective. From funny observations about life's little ironies to straightforward advice on happiness and getting things done, this book is packed with relatable ideas that you'll instantly recognize and find helpful, no matter what you're going through.
Otter loves floating and collecting pretty, heavy rocks all by themself. When a storm comes, Otter has so many rocks that they can't swim home -- and soon, they're lost at sea. But when a few rocks accidentally slip away, Otter feels -- lighter. And with the help of a new friend, Otter realizes that maybe they don't need to carry everything alone.
Gomer Pyle, the goofy local mechanic on "The Andy Griffith show" has left Mayberry to join the Marines. Stationed at Camp Henderson in California, his country bumpkin ways repeatedly get him into hot water with his hilariously short-fused superior, Sergeant Vince Carter, as he foils every attempt by Carter to keep him in line. But as much as Carter wants to dislike Pyle, they can't help but develop a special kinship.

💡Resource Spotlight💡

Who: Any child who hasn’t started kindergarten is encouraged to participate. You can start at any time, just be sure to finish before your child enters kindergarten.

Why 1,000 books before kindergarten?

Sharing books and stories is important for a child’s brain development.

  • Children who are read to at an early age have larger vocabularies when they enter school.
  • The most important predictor of school success is being read to at home during early childhood.
  • Reading aloud to infants and children encourages social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • A toddler’s brain creates up to two million new connections every second.
  • A child’s brain develops most rapidly before the age of three.
  • The ability to learn language skills is greatest before the age of six.

Can I count the same book more than once? Yes! You may count the same title as many times as your child wants to read it, but we also encourage you to read a wide array of books to increase your child’s exposure to different vocabulary and concepts.

When is the deadline to finish reading 1,000 books? Your child must have read their 1,000 books before they begin kindergarten. You have plenty of time to finish!

  • 1 book per day for 3 years = 1,095 Books
  • 10 books per week for 2 years = 1,040 Books
  • 3 books per day for 1 year = 1,095 Books
