The Day the Books Disappeared written by Joanna Ho and Caroline Kusin Pritchard ; illustrated by Dan Santat

In an attempt to share his love of airplanes with his classmates, Arnold accidently wishes away all the books in his classroom until he learns that everyone's individual interests bring them joy.
The Book of Witching by Carolyn Jess-Cooke

A witch's curse cast centuries ago will strike again in this spine-tingling Gothic novel from the author of A Haunting in the Arctic. Clem gets a call that is every mother's worst nightmare. Her nineteen-year-old daughter Erin is unconscious in the hospital after a hiking trip on the Orkney Islands that met a horrifying end. Even worse, her boyfriend is dead and her best friend is missing. When Erin wakes, she doesn't recognize her mother. And she doesn't answer to her name, but insists she is someone named Nyx. Clem travels the site of her daughter's accident, determined to find out what happened to her. But instead of answers, she finds a dark secret in the history of the Orkneys: a woman wrongly put to death for witchcraft four centuries ago and whispers of a hex she set in retaliation. Clem begins to wonder if Erin's strange behavior is a symptom of a broken mind, or the effects of an ancient curse?

It was a beautiful day to be out and support the cyclists participating in the Hi-Lo Trail Ride on October 24th! These cyclists are inspiring and love visiting small, wonderful towns like Sparta! We hope to be a supporting part of their cycling adventure in 2026!
It's the Great Pumpkin....Selfie....at Sparta-Hancock County Library, Sparta, GA!
We had an awesome time with the 6th graders from Hancock Central Middle School for Georgia Reads Day! The students learned about our amazing honey bees, they did a scavenger hunt learning about the Dewey Decimal System, they designed their own book covers and created sentences to demonstrate how reading is a fun adventure! These student had great questions! We also shared with them the wonderful program, the PLAY Card where each student in the school system has a PLAY Card where they can check out up to 5 books from the library.
